The Iowa Dance Collective Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to making dance education accessible, equitable, and empowering for all. Through scholarships, community outreach programs, and performance opportunities, we support dancers of all ages and backgrounds—especially those who may face barriers to participation.

Since our founding, the Foundation has served over 200 students and launched multiple initiatives, including the Rising Artist Scholarship, free early childhood classes through our Community Time program, and a pre-professional company offering advanced training at no cost. Every donation helps fuel our mission to nurture creativity, confidence, and community through the transformative power of dance.

Programs

Community Time Classes

Our Community Time classes are at the heart of our mission to make dance accessible to everyone. Offered completely free of charge, these classes provide early childhood dance and movement education to children ages 18 months to 4 years, helping little ones build coordination, confidence, and joy through creative exploration.

Classes run in short seasonal sessions and are open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis—no registration fees, no strings attached. Whether it’s a toddler’s first twirl or a preschooler’s big leap, Community Time ensures that every child can experience the magic of dance, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances.

Rising Artist Scholarship

The Rising Artist Scholarship is the Iowa Dance Collective Foundation’s flagship program, created to support passionate and dedicated young dancers who demonstrate exceptional promise and commitment. This scholarship provides full or partial tuition support for classes, rehearsals, and performance opportunities at Iowa Dance Collective, removing financial barriers to high-quality dance training.

Recipients are selected based on their artistic potential, work ethic, and desire to grow—both as dancers and as individuals. In return, Rising Artists are asked to uphold strong attendance, maintain a positive attitude, and give back through mentorship or volunteerism. This scholarship is more than financial aid—it’s a pathway to possibility, built on the belief that talent deserves opportunity.

Malone Dance Theater

Malone Dance Theater is the pre-professional company of Iowa Dance Collective, designed for advanced Junior and Senior Division students who are ready to take their training, artistry, and performance experience to the next level. Admission is by invitation only and includes intensive weekend rehearsals, original choreography, and professional-level production opportunities.

The company performs throughout the year, culminating in a full-length spring concert that showcases both new works and repertory pieces. Under the artistic direction of Tyler Malone, dancers in Malone Dance Theater are challenged to grow not only as technicians and performers, but as collaborators, leaders, and creators.

Participation in Malone Dance Theater is tuition-free, made possible by the Iowa Dance Collective Foundation Annual Fund, ensuring that excellence in dance remains accessible to all committed students regardless of financial circumstance.
