WHAT MAKES IDC DIFFERENT
-
At Iowa Dance Collective, training is rooted in the traditions that shape professional dancers. Students study classical ballet alongside modern techniques influenced by the Graham and Horton techniques, while contemporary classes connect these foundations to the movement language of today’s choreographers. This layered approach develops strong, versatile dancers who understand not only how to move, but why movement works.
-
For students seeking a deeper commitment, the Iowa Dance Collective School offers a day and boarding program where rigorous academics are integrated with daily dance training. Students pursue their academic studies while training in ballet, modern, and contemporary during the school day, creating an environment where artistic growth and academic progress support one another.
-
Iowa Dance Collective was built with the belief that high level arts education should not be limited to major cities. Through scholarships, outreach initiatives, and programs supported by the Iowa Dance Collective Foundation, IDC works to ensure that serious dance training remains accessible while strengthening the cultural life of rural Iowa.
OUR FACILITY
At Iowa Dance Collective, we’re not just offering classes—we’re offering a dance education. Our brand-new facility at 405 N Court Street in Fairfield, Iowa was created to support students in their full development as artists, movers, and young people.
With dedicated spaces designed for both learning and connection, our school includes:
Three professional studios with sprung floors
A quiet classroom/homework room for downtime and study
Changing rooms that provide space and privacy
A parent lounge for comfort between drop-off and pick-up
An inviting outdoor hangout space where friendships grow
Every element of our space is intentional—because we’re not just a place to dance, we’re a place to grow.
